In early 2002, a group of Wheelock citizens came together when it became apparent that there was no formal organization for those interested in providing for growth opportunities. They were eager to have activities where people could socialize and become more informed about events that impact the community. These twenty-four enthusiastic citizens decided that there was a definite need for a facility in Wheelock to accommodate this organization and other groups instead of driving to a neighboring town.

The members quickly became engaged in becoming a recognized entity with all the established guidelines for a 501(c)(3) organization. Mr. and Mrs. Bloodworth saw the potential and believed in the efforts of the citizens of the Wheelock area. When approached about their land as a site for providing a much-needed meeting place for the various community activities, they generously provided 9.447 acres.

The Wheelock Civic Association is dedicated to supporting educational and civic needs of Wheelock and surrounding area residents.

  • Annual membership is available to families for $25 and individuals for $15 (see membership application for eligibility requirements).

  • The association meets the first Tuesday night of each month at the Bloodworth Center at 7:00 PM for a meeting and put luck dinner.
